“Art lets me dream and create a world more real for me.”

LAM Tung-pang never runs out of ideas for new creations. His artworks are a harmonious union of various elements, media and materials. This time, with Things Happened on the Island, he combines painting with three-dimensional model and invites audience participation in the creative process, so that they can create their own dream cities in a funny and interesting way.

In Things Happened on the Island, Lam paints a scene for his audience, who can use the toy blocks provided to create their own ideal cities as an extension to the scene. Once this first city is established, the next audience can build his on top of it, or re-build. Through Lam’s nostalgia as well as the wishes of the audience to the future, this joint creation is truly a blend of imagination and reality.

Through the construction of a city, Lam invites audience to enter to the real world he creates. Let’s unleash our own creativity to pursue a seemingly remote yet close ideal way of living!
